Join us as we show you hold to fold up a family tent – In this instance our Vango Casa Lux

In this video we show you how to take down, fold up and pack away your tent in 5 easy steps. With some useful camping tips and hacks thrown in. At the end of a 7-night break in the lovely North Wales, we decided to make this video of ourselves folding away our tent as we know it can sometime prove to be tricky. We have a rather large 7 berth Vango Casa Lux Tent and we often struggle when it comes to packing it away, so we thought that if we actually video ourselves, it will not just help us in the future but may help other campers. We also give you some tips and hacks, such as ensuring you leave the bedroom compartments in, and for our particular tent we also leave the dining area footprint in. The 5 simple steps to packing away a family tent:
The 5 simple steps to packing away a family tent: 1. Firstly remove all the guy line pegs – ensuring that you place them in the bag and not leave them on the floor. 2. We then neatly tie up all the guy lines. This can save hours of time when you next go camping. Tangled guy lines can be very frustrating and this extra 5 minutes spent when packing away can save all that. 3. Then it is time to remove all the remaining pegs. Again, we always ensure that we pack these away as we go. 4. Next is the pole removal. Our tent has 5 poles, and this can often be tricky as they sometimes come apart when being pushed and pulled through the guides, but we did get there in the end. NOTE: this is a task that is always easier with 2 people. 5. And lastly the most painful part of the camping experience. Folding away your tent, so that it is compact enough to fit back into the bag and then back into your car. We start by ensuring that we are only looking to fold up the square area that is the size of the main area footprint. This means folding over the entrance and dining area partition. Once you are faced with a square area, it is then a case of doing and initial fold over of approx. 20 inches. Then repeat this on the other side of the tent. Continue doing a fold on either side until you meet in the middle. Once you are left with a single fold, it is then a case of rolling it up as tightly as possible, whilst trying to push all air out. As you will see on our video this was a take that I was able to complete by myself. It is then a case of putting the rolled-up tent back into the bag along with the poles and the pegs. This simple rolling procedure also works on air tents. We are then left with the groundsheet, which we also fold up via this method, and then again it is just a case of rolling it up as tightly as possible so that it fits neatly back into the bag.
On this camping trip we were in North Wales, so we have added some clips in of the stunning Welsh Country and ideas for things that you can do if you ever visit. Snowdonia National Park, Aberdaron Beach, Portmerion, Caernarfon Castle, Black Rock Sands, and The River Dwyfor.
