AquaRock Waterpark Menorca Review – Is It Worth the Money?

If you’re heading to Menorca with children, there’s a good chance that spending a day at a waterpark will be somewhere on your holiday wish list.

And when the temperatures are soaring, there’s certainly something appealing about swapping the beach for swimming pools, waterslides and a few hours of splashing around.

During our family holiday in Cala en Bosch, Menorca, we visited AquaRock Waterpark, one of the area’s popular family attractions.

In fact, we enjoyed it enough to visit five times!

But before you rush out to buy tickets, there’s something worth knowing.

Our entry was included in our hotel booking, which made a big difference to how we felt about the overall experience.

So, is AquaRock worth paying for? Are there enough slides to keep the children entertained? And how does it compare with the other waterpark near Cala en Forcat?

Here’s what The Hadwins thought.

Where Is AquaRock Waterpark in Menorca?

AquaRock is located in Cala en Bosch, a popular holiday resort on the southwest coast of Menorca.

It’s conveniently positioned for families staying in the area, particularly if you’re holidaying at one of the nearby hotels or apartment complexes.

During our visit, we were staying at AluaSun Lago Park, which included access to AquaRock as part of our booking.

That was a fantastic bonus and one of the things we particularly appreciated about our stay.

If you’re considering staying at the same hotel, you can watch our honest AluaSun Lago Park Menorca hotel review on YouTube.

There’s parking available at AquaRock, and you’ll also find a go-karting attraction next door.

We thought the go-karting looked like fun, but with the temperatures being so high, spending time in the water was considerably more appealing!

AquaRock Waterpark Entry Prices – Is It Expensive?

This is probably the most important consideration for families planning a visit.

At the time of our holiday, the prices we found for a family of four were:

  • €87 for a family ticket booked online, covering two adults and two children.

  • €82 for the equivalent family ticket purchased at the entrance.

  • €26.50 for an adult ticket, with children over 12 charged at the adult rate.

Interestingly, when we visited, the online family ticket was more expensive than buying at the gate.

That isn’t something you necessarily expect, so it’s worth comparing the options before booking.

These were the prices advertised during our visit and shouldn’t be taken as current ticket prices. Always check AquaRock’s latest prices, age bands and booking conditions.

For a family, it’s certainly not a cheap day out, especially once you factor in food, drinks and any extras.

Fortunately for us, our hotel package included entry, which meant we could come and go without worrying about paying every time.

And believe us, that made a huge difference.

Waterslides at AquaRock – Are They Any Good?

Now for the fun part!

AquaRock had four main waterslides that provided most of the excitement during our visits.

Some could be enjoyed without inflatable rings, while others were better suited to using them.

There was enough variety to keep us entertained, and the slides were certainly enjoyable.

One of the biggest positives was the lack of lengthy queues.

We found that we could go on the slides repeatedly without spending half the day waiting.

And anyone who’s visited a busy waterpark with impatient children will know just how much of a bonus that can be!

There were also a couple of smaller slides aimed at younger children, which we felt were particularly suitable for approximately three to seven-year-olds, depending on their confidence and the attraction’s rules.

So while AquaRock isn’t packed with dozens of enormous rides, it did offer a good mixture for different ages.

The Wave Pool – One of Our Favourite Attractions

One of the highlights for us was the wave pool.

At roughly hourly intervals during our visit, a siren would sound to let everyone know that the waves were about to begin.

And then the fun started!

The waves lasted for around five minutes or more and were surprisingly good.

We all really enjoyed this part of the waterpark, and it was definitely one of the attractions that kept drawing us back.

It was a great way to break up the day between waterslides and relaxing by the pools.

Of course, younger or less confident swimmers should always be closely supervised, particularly when the waves are operating.

Swimming Pools and Facilities

Alongside the waterslides and wave pool, AquaRock also had a main swimming pool.

During our visit, the main pool was approximately four feet deep in the area we used and included a jacuzzi-style section where you could relax.

There was also a small splash pool for younger children.

We found the overall layout fairly easy to navigate, with the main attractions close enough together that you weren’t constantly walking long distances around the park.

For somewhere to sit, there were sun loungers available to hire.

At the time, these cost approximately €2 to €3.50, depending on the option.

There were also free tables and chairs around the restaurant and bar area.

So, if you’re happy to sit there rather than hire a lounger, you could avoid that additional expense.

Food and Drink at AquaRock – Surprisingly Reasonable!

One thing we were pleasantly surprised by was the cost of refreshments.

Waterparks and tourist attractions aren’t always known for offering good value when it comes to food and drinks.

However, we found the prices at AquaRock fairly reasonable.

There were meals, snacks, drinks and ice creams available from the food area.

In fact, we thought some of the prices were cheaper than those we’d encountered in restaurants and bars around Cala en Bosch.

That was a welcome surprise, particularly when you’re visiting with children who seem to develop an appetite every five minutes!

It made spending several hours at the park much more convenient.

AquaRock vs Aqua Center Los Delfines – Which Is Better?

If you’re planning a holiday in Menorca and want to visit a waterpark, AquaRock isn’t your only option.

There’s also Aqua Center Los Delfines, located in the Cala en Forcat area, which we visited and reviewed separately.

Although AquaRock promotes itself as a major waterpark attraction, we personally felt that Aqua Center Los Delfines offered a better overall experience.

In our opinion, it felt bigger and had more to offer.

That’s not to say AquaRock was disappointing, because we genuinely enjoyed ourselves there.

But if we were paying specifically for a family day out and choosing between the two, we’d lean towards Aqua Center Los Delfines.

You can watch our Aqua Center Los Delfines waterpark review on YouTube to see how the two compare.

If you’re staying in Cala en Bosch, however, AquaRock’s convenient location is a definite advantage.

Is AquaRock Waterpark Suitable for Younger Children?

We thought AquaRock offered a reasonable selection of activities for families with children of different ages.

The smaller slides and splash pool were useful for younger visitors, while the main slides and wave pool provided more excitement for older children.

However, if you’re travelling with teenagers who are looking for a huge selection of extreme waterslides, they may find the park a little limited compared with larger waterparks elsewhere.

For younger families wanting a few hours of fun in the water, we felt it worked well.

It’s also worth checking the current height, age and supervision restrictions before visiting.

Our Final AquaRock Waterpark Review – Would We Recommend It?

So, after visiting AquaRock five times during our holiday, what did we think?

Well, we clearly enjoyed ourselves!

The slides were fun, the wave pool was excellent and we particularly appreciated the relatively short queues.

The food and drinks were reasonably priced, and there was enough to keep us entertained for several hours.

But there’s one important point.

We had free entry through our hotel package.

If we’d been paying the full family admission price every time, there’s absolutely no way we would have visited five times.

In fact, we think one paid visit would have been sufficient.

For families staying in Cala en Bosch, AquaRock is definitely worth considering, especially if entry is included with your accommodation.

But if you’re travelling from another part of Menorca and paying full price, we’d recommend comparing it with Aqua Center Los Delfines before deciding.

What We Liked

  • Fun waterslides with relatively short queues during our visits.

  • A surprisingly enjoyable wave pool.

  • Swimming and splash areas for different ages.

  • Reasonably priced food and refreshments.

  • A convenient location for families staying in Cala en Bosch.

What Could Be Better

  • The family admission price can make it an expensive day out.

  • There aren’t as many major slides as some visitors might expect.

  • Sun loungers cost extra.

  • We personally preferred Aqua Center Los Delfines.

Our verdict: AquaRock is an enjoyable family waterpark, particularly if you’re staying nearby or have entry included with your hotel. We had a brilliant time, but at full admission price, we’d probably limit ourselves to one visit.
